The Systems Architect duties include the following:
- Analyze communications, information and programming requirements of clients, plan, develop, and design computer systems.
- Test the designed system to ensure that it runs error free to the extent technically possible, within the constraints of time, money and available technology.
- Modify existing software and hardware to make it compatible with the newer system being designed.
- Re-engineer software package to meet specific requirements.
Job duties are broken down by percentage of time:
- Lead discussions with business and other cross-competency stakeholders to understand and document current gaps in business processes such as reporting, retail operations, compliance, member experience, etc. -20%
- Manage project intakes related tasks such as business case definition, stakeholder management, vendor management, requirements management, solution planning, documentation management planning, and overall project planning. -20%
- Employ various information gathering techniques such as job shadowing, interview technical SMEs, process modeling, use case modeling, conference calls and group meetings to understand the full scope of change for each team involved and define dependencies, assumptions, out of scope items, resource needs, etc. -20%
- Analyze the available information and data that was gathered to define and document functional changes, system solutions and/or process changes which are needed in order to meet user goals. -20%
- Confer with the end user to make sure proper testing is planned that will ensure successful implementation and functioning of the new system. -20%
The qualified individual should possess in the least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field with additional experience in practical application or theoretical knowledge of computer science or a specialized field of study.
